Brilliant work! Allegory often paints a better picture than pacts ever could. Maybe that’s why Jesus used stories and parables.

I had to hold off on reading this until I saw the movie, but the wait was worth it! Boy, did I have a time reading thisssss!!!

Pricelis. This was everything! I completely agree with you, Sis! While living in NYC, I wanted to see this musical, but never had the chance! I went to the movies really knowing NOTHING. Never heard any of the songs, Didn't watch the trailer, etc. I just LOVE musicals so I knew I just had to see it!! So happy I did + I want to see it again – Reading this was the best part though...

Thank you + miss you!

I had waited to read this until I watched the movie. I resonate so much with your comparison here. Thank you for continuing to love the Church while still holding her to account.

Wow! I just blindly (except for knowing the songs Popular and Defying Gravity) went to the theater and saw Wicked this weekend. I knew truly nothing about it so was surprised by everything. Since then, I've been going on such deep dives about the meaning and themes (along with listening to the soundtrack on repeat of course) and this was a favorite read. Even reading what you wrote, I feel the discomfort and injustice in my chest of how Elpahba is treated. The comparison of the Wizard to (certain/some) pastors is so spot on.

glad you watched it and this was a favorite read. Such parallels! Wait til you see part 2 of the film (story), goes even deeper on all of this!
