I personally love the idea of restoration, especially when it comes to what God is doing because He does indeed make all things new - but part of His restoration process for us and the world is to return things to how He intentionally and initially had them in the beginning when we created the garden.
But for us as humans, that doesn’t always apply and work the same way. If we built something from a foundation that was wrong and did wrong or evil things from that foundation abrupted then we shouldn’t try to restore it because then we would be trying to mend or bring something back to how it started. What do I mean by that?
If someone began a business with the idea of becoming famous and rich and willing to do anything or use anyone to get there, then the foundations of their business is rooted in evil. So along the way, if they do something wrong against someone and choose to want to “restore” themselves in the same field of business, then they very well might just go back to their roots of wanting to be rich and famous since that was their initial framework for starting a business in the first place.
This is why God sticks to restoring and we should stick to repairing - which means to ‘fix or mend (a thing suffering from damage or a fault).’
Notice the difference. One is to fix and the other is to reinstate and return.
